Radio Frequency (RF) Potting and Encapsulating Compounds

Choose from a variety of epoxy and polyurethane resin compounds for potting and encapsulation of radio frequency and wireless sensor applications. This includes automatic meter readers (AMR's), NFC devices, RFID tags, tire pressure management sensors (TPMS) and Internet of Things (IoT) devices that use the following protocols: Wifi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Z-Wave. Our potting compounds are used for devices that operate in the 433/868 MHz bands, such as security card readers. We also have materials for devices that operate from 1-3 GHz.

If you require RF transparency or optical clarity, we have clear compounds. These are useful in water and gas meter reading devices where you need to read a barcode. Low Tg (glass transition temperature) and low hardness formulations are suitable for outdoor applications where you need to protect electronics from harsh thermocycling conditions. Many of our potting materials are UL rated and certified for enhanced fire resistance.

Popular RF Compounds:

Epic S7341 is a two-component epoxy system designed for potting automatic meter readers (AMRs) for the water meter market. This compound has more than 10 years of field experience in this application. The optical clarity of this material is key for applications in which visibility to LEDs or barcodes under the potted surface is important. This material maintains a low dielectric constant up to a frequency of 1 GHz and allows this system to be used in applications with frequencies in the 433/868 MHz band. The excellent physical properties and electrical properties over an extended temperature range make this an ideal candidate for rugged applications. The long work life and low exotherm are essential for applications with temperature-sensitive components.

Epic S7325 is a low-hardness, two-component polyurethane electrical potting compound designed for automotive applications. Additionally, the superior stability of the dielectric constant up to frequencies of 3 GHz makes S7325 an ideal candidate for various RF and Bluetooth applications. The low glass transition temperature and good stability up to 125°C allow this material to be used in wide temperature range applications. The convenient 1:1 volumetric mix ratio makes this material easy to dispense using meter mix and dispense equipment.

Epic S7379 is a two-component epoxy system designed for potting automatic meter readers (AMRs) and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) applications for the gas metering market. Designed around our popular S7341, S7379 is formulated with improved crack resistance which is critical for handling the thermal shock outdoor environment applications endure. The low dielectric constant allows this system to be used in applications in frequencies of 433/868 MHZ band.

Epic S7527 is a two-component polyurethane that is UL 94V0 recognized and has achieved this rating without the use of halogen-containing flame retardants. The S7527 features a medium hardness, extended gel time, improved filler stability and low water absorption. The 5:1 by volume mix ratio makes this material meter mix and dispense machine friendly. This polyurethane is suitable for RF applications with short distance transmit ranges such as access card readers.

Epic S7490-01 is a two component urethane potting compound designed for electrical potting applications. S7490-01 features a low mixed viscosity to flow into tight tolerance areas and has a relatively quick gel time for reducing work in process. It possesses good adhesive qualities to various plastics and metals. S7490-01 can be used in sensors and other communications devices that need protection from the elements.

Epic S7391-03 is a two-component epoxy potting compound designed with a convenient volumetric mix ratio for optimum properties. The low dielectric constant allows this product to excel at Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) applications. The cured properties of this material enable it to be used to protect devices with very sensitive components by minimizing the stress on them. Low water absorption and low specific gravity make this material ideal for outdoor or weight-sensitive applications.

Epic S7532-01 is a two-component epoxy system designed for potting automatic meter readers (AMRs) for the water meter market. This compound has more than 20 years of field experience. S7532-01 maintains a low dielectric constant up to a frequency of 1 GHz and allows this system to be used in applications with frequencies in the 433/868 MHz band. The excellent physical properties and electrical properties over an extended temperature range make this an ideal candidate for rugged applications. The long work life and low exothermal temperatures are essential for applications with temperature-sensitive components.

Epic RM2017 is a two-component polyurethane potting compound designed for use in low to high-frequency RF applications. RM2017’s low dielectric constant, coupled with its other electrical properties, allow the user to successfully transmit lower frequency signals over greater distances with low signal loss.
